How to Create a New QuickBooks File

If you are new to QuickBooks the first task is to create a data file. Click on Create a new company from the No Company Open window.

The QuickBooks Setup dialog displays with the following options:

• Express Start – Creating a file quickly with the least amount of initial setup time.
• Advanced Setup – Formerly known as EasyStep Interview offers a question-and-answer format for helping you setup the file details.
• Other Options – Open Existing File, Convert Quicken Data, Convert Other Accounting Software Data. See also the section in Chapter 1 of QuickBooks 2012 In Depth[1] titled: “Create From Existing Company File” for more details on other options that your accounting professional may have with QuickBooks Accountant 2012.

Choose from one of the three options included with your software that best suits your needs; each one is detailed in QuickBooks 2012 In Depth[1].
