If you are new to QuickBooks the first task is to create a data file. Click on Create a new company from the No Company Open window.
The QuickBooks Setup dialog displays with the following options:
Choose from one of the three options included with your software that best suits your needs; each one is detailed in QuickBooks 2012 In Depth[1].
If you have been using an older version of QuickBooks and you want to upgrade your file to QuickBooks 2012, more information can be found in Chapter 13 of QuickBooks 2012 In Depth[1], “Managing Your QuickBooks Database”.
